Manufacturing Data Management (MDM) is a subset of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) that specifically addresses the management of CNC code files (version and revision control), tools, tool holders and fixture data files, and virtually any other type of shop document or manufacturing information.
The software can be run from any web browser equipped device including tablets, PCs, and many machine controllers. Version and revision control of all related information is enforced, guaranteeing that the right data gets to the right place at the right time!

Teamcenter provides an environment that enables CAM users to manage the data they create and reference in a controlled and consistent way.
Teamcenter enables planning engineers to work more efficiently and to collaborate better with other departments.
Teamcenter provides an integrated solution for classifying and managing the resources (tools, tool holders, etc.) required for part manufacturing data including:
Classification of manufacturing resources:

Shop Floor Connect for Teamcenter is an application add-on for Teamcenter® software that delivers CNC program files from Teamcenter directly into the machine controller. More than just a traditional DNC system, the connection to the centralized Teamcenter database avoids data duplication and manages revisions to make sure the correct manufacturing data is used on the shop floor. It also enables your production staff to access current and released CNC programs, drawings, 3D models and other data sources through a web-based user interface that runs on any browser-enabled device or controller. Tecnomatix® software’s Part Planning and Validation applications enable part manufacturing companies to accurately and efficiently define the manufacturing process plan and directly connect it to production systems. Once plans are completed, integrated production applications are available to transfer the plan data directly to the CNC machine for execution. Adopting a single source of data enables fast, easy access to the correct information and supports effective communication of the manufacturing plan to production. Get the data sheet.
Teamcenter software’s capabilities for manufacturing process management enable customers to collaboratively create, validate and optimize manufacturing plans concurrently with product design. By providing a common environment for multiple disciplines that share the same requirements, Teamcenter drastically improves lifecycle productivity between engineering, manufacturing and production. This reduces waste and increases decision value as information interrelationships are leveraged by a broader audience to arrive at better decisions in a shorter amount of time. Get the data sheet.
Teamcenter Manufacturing Helps Connect All Domains of the Design/Build Lifecycle
Summary
Today’s manufacturing methods and processes have evolved in numerous ways over the decades with more advanced machines and production equipment, fully automated work cells, highly efficient workflow and tracking systems enabled by next-generation factory floor IT, and extremely productive workers. Yet, despite these advancements, the manufacturing build process within the context of the design/build lifecycle remains composed of the same basic domains: manufacturing planning, workflow and resource management, and shop floor execution systems. While these domains have become more complex and the solutions more sophisticated, they remain largely unconnected across the end-to-end design/build/operate/maintain lifecycle that defines today’s PLM solution set.
Manufacturers are clearly becoming more PLM-centric as they adopt and implement the extended solution set that encompasses the expanded scope of PLM across the product lifecycle. Siemens PLM Software, with its Teamcenter Manufacturing platform addresses the expanded scope of PLM and the end-to-end product/process/production lifecycle by offering a collaborative design/build platform that connects all the manufacturing domains, from manufacturing process creation to validation of as-built to as-designed.
