CAD Import

UniDoc Fx provides the most complete and current CAD readers available for electronics manufacturers. Users can capture full CAD including nets and traces from over 65 different platforms. Regular updates insure that users can import CAD files from the most current versions in the marketplace.

Library Editor

A standard library editor is available for editing parts, shapes and machine libraries. Being standard, users can speed up their overall processing with a common editing interface.

Factory Definition

With support for hand assembly Slide-Lines as well as Single-Cell Hand Stations, the user can model any manual assembly process in their factory. UniDoc Fx will also collaborate with UniCam Fx, so a line definition that includes automated placement machines can be viewed and documented as well. So whether you are using UniDoc Fx as a stand-alone tool or in collaboration with UniCam Fx, you can model any process needed for your factory.

 

Documentation and Work Instructions

UniDoc Fx automatically generates full sets of documents including setup lists for slide-lines and hand insert instructions. Documents are generated with user configurable templates. Drawing files can be imported to enhance the instructions and we  provide a full set of standard drawing tools such as circles, rectangles, polygons, lines, etc… Any engineering changes will update the entire set of documents automatically saving hours of work.

        

Viewing and Query

Viewing capabilities are available with deployable standalone View stations that may be installed on a network or at distributed locations. Board layout and circuits may be viewed and queried speeding up collaboration between different process engineering teams within a single site or across an enterprise. View stations may also be used for electronic publication of documents and work instructions enabling faster delivery to operators creating a paperless environment. Our viewers also include a powerful first article inspection tool that both provides automation to the first article process and also helps to ensure the users accuracy.

Better Factory Optimization

Unicam FX’s Advanced Optimization is the missing puzzle piece between your ERP system and the shop floor. Developed as a “bottom up approach”, Unicam FX contains the specific knowledge required to do detailed schedule analysis and precise production planning. The user gets the overview he needs about his products and assembly equipment capacity, and makes plans through simulated optimization runs of the production.

Reduce Downtime

Most companies have their planning focus in the Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP) like SAP. These systems work nearly completely decoupled from the shop floor so that an SMT line is treated as a “black box”.

Detailed information is missing to answer the most critical questions like:  

  • Does a product fit on a line in terms of feeder space?
  • Could products be grouped into families saving change-over time?
  • Does a line provide the technical requirements needed, for example - nozzle types, feeder types, cameras, etc.?

Streamline planning and improve Operational Efficiency

It is impossible to close the gap between the ERP system and the Shop floor without detailed technical knowledge of the product data and equipment used. Lacking this information makes it very difficult to do precise capacity and resource planning.

Typical questions of the different planning departments are:

  • How to run my equipment in the most efficient way?
  • Do we have enough production capacity? 
  • What’s the best line configuration for my products?
  • Where and when to produce?

Unicam MJML-the solution

Unicam MJML (Multi Job Multi Line) is a standalone software solution that answers your most critical planning questions regarding your SMT lines. The system was developed in cooperation with our existing customers. The core of Unicam MJML is our simulation and optimization engine that has over 20 years of history and user experience in the market. The main data sources for the Unicam MJML tool are our NPI systems that provide job, machine, line and library data to the simulation tool. In addition, order data is required which comes typically from the ERP system.

Unicam MJML contains the following modules:

Order Manager

The Order manager allows the user to maintain the orders and their properties such as Quantity. This module permits you to change the job data and gives an overview about the products and their basic configurations.

Line Manager

The line manager enables the user to define and manage several lines for different simulation purposes. Adding new machines or changing line configurations can be done very easily. 

Similarity Check

This module analyses products in terms of part similarities, overlapping, number of parts and part types etc. The simulation results can be displayed in various report formats, including export functionalities to Excel, PDF or Word.

Assignment Check

This tool analyzes the selected products and assembly lines. It checks all technical restrictions to verify the products will fit on the selected lines. It calculates the order and production time per panel for each candidate. A “DeRating” factor is displayed which shows the difference between the actual and normal capacity per line and is a good indicator of how good a job fits to a line.

Multi–job-Multi line (MJML) Optimizer

This module uses products and lines as input. First a technical check is done, then a complex optimization algorithm calculates the best order line assignment and the best order sequence per line, including cluster generation. Optimization goals are to minimize the overall production time, reduce the changeover time and to get a well balanced SMT plant. The user has an influence on the optimization goals through various settings like:

  • Exclude orders from lines
  • Fixed order group
  • Fixed order sequences
  • Group sequences
  • High runner order in its own cluster etc. 

Interactive Planner

The interactive planner enables the user to move orders between lines and setups (clusters). The planner verifies the technical suitability in real time as the user makes scheduling adjustments. The user will be informed directly if a requirement could not be fulfilled. (e.g. a feeder type on this line is not available, not enough loading capacity etc). If technically possible, the planner calculates the new scenario for that planning segment.

Unicam MJML in cooperation with the NPI product suite

Unicam MJML is tightly linked with the Siemens NPI product UniCam FX. This systes is  the main data source. Data about panels, circuits, parts, machines, lines and other resources are coming from this system. The input of the Unicam MJML is a normalized format so that connections to other NPI systems, (e.g. to a machine vendor software like Siplace Pro) is possible without any problems.
