Solid Edge Simulation Express

Solid Edge Simulation Express offers you an entry into embedded simulation. Included in Solid Edge Classic, Solid Edge Simulation Express provides a first pass simulation of individual solid or sheet metal components for statics and modal analyses. Like Solid Edge Simulation, it is based on the proven modeling technology of Femap and uses the industry-standard NX Nastran solver.

Solid Edge Premium

Powerful 3D CAD CAE and Routing software in one product. This product includes all the capabilities of Solid Edge Classic plus the additional capabilities of:

Important note for Solid Edge Premium: the capabilities of this product are all tied together – you may not individually float its various components. If you have a mix of Premium and Classic in a floating environment, the first user to access Solid Edge will get the Premium license. If you need floating capabilities, which avoid this situation, then Solid Edge Classic needs to be purchased and appropriate licenses of Simulation, XpresRoute, or Wiring.

 


Solid Edge Simulation

Solid Edge Simulation provides a Solid Edge embedded finite element analysis functionality designed specifically to be used by designers and engineers for structural analysis of parts and assemblies. FEA functionality includes linear statics, modes, and buckling with NX Nastran as the solver in an environment where the advantages of Synchronous Technology can be used for model preparation and modification. Solid Edge Simulation provides scalability across the Velocity Series CAE product line with the versatility to share model files with Simulation Express and Femap.


Solid Edge XpresRoute

Solid Edge XpresRoute is an integrated add-on package that rapidly routes and models pipes and rigid or flexible tubing. The XpresRoute module helps you quickly define paths between assembly components, define component properties, and automatically create a 3D solid model of the pipe or tube. For piping systems, 3D pipes, fittings and components are automatically positioned and correctly oriented upon population. All routed systems are dynamically associative so that they automatically adjust when changes are made in related parts.


Solid Edge Wire Harness Design

Solid Edge Wire Harness design provides integration between popular electrical circuit design systems and Solid Edge. A dedicated process-driven environment for the efficient creation, routing and organization of wires, cables and bundles in a Solid Edge assembly allows electrical and mechanical design teams to collaborate more closely and create a complete digital mock-up.


Standard Parts

Solid Edge Standard Parts is a powerful parts management system that allows designers to define, store, select and position commonly used parts — like fasteners, bearings, structural steel members and pipe fittings— quickly and efficiently, enabling rapid and precise completion of 3D assemblies. With Solid Edge Standard Parts, companies establish and share their own standards, so designers can concentrate on creative design and not on redundant modeling tasks.

Solid Edge Standard Parts makes component libraries easily accessible, so users can quickly find the right part and effortlessly place them in Solid Edge assemblies, all within company standards.

The standard parts wizard is delivered with every copy of Solid Edge, and includes a baseline complement of components. Designers use the wizard to populate the library with required components that meet approved company standards, either all at once or while designing. Once defined, all components can be quickly located and placed using the same wizard.


Machinery and Piping Libraries

In addition to the baseline of components delivered with Solid Edge, additional libraries are available as optional add-on packages:

The Solid Edge Machinery Library contains thousands of components that support a growing range of international standards (ANSI, DIN, ISO, AFBMA, AISC, UNI, JIS, GB).

The Solid Edge Piping Library contains an extensive selection of standard fittings, including elbows, bends, returns, Ys, tees, and reducers, as well as a large collection of essential components such as flanges, unions and seals. Fittings are available in a variety of relevant end treatments, such as threaded, welded, flanged and slip-on.

Solid Edge Insight Product Data Management

Solid Edge Insight™ is based on Microsoft SharePoint, a leading business productivity solution that brings information management and access, collaboration and people-driven processes into a familiar environment where people do their work every day.

The Solid Edge Insight client software is included with Solid Edge Classic and Premium at no additional charge.  Insight does require some additional Microsoft components (primarily MS Server and SharePoint) for which your company may already have licenses that can be used.  If not, those licenses plus appropriate implementation and training services will be needed to use Insight PDM with your Solid Edge installation.  Please contact your Acuity Territory Manager, or Sarah Dimeo at 888.747.0850 x 303 for more information.

Solid Edge Insight is now available on both Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and on Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS) allowing you to leverage server software that you already have and that best fits your corporate IT strategy. Insight's capabilities are described below.
Secure Vaulting with Check-In/Check-Out

Solid Edge Insight manages distributed product data – including files and information about them – in organized workspaces that makes it easy to find and re-use data. These information assets are protected with secure vaulting, role-based access, document level security, and check-in/check-out.

Comprehensive Access Control through Configurable User Roles
Companies can easily assign roles for each user of product data and establish rule-based access to design documents. A user can be a member of more than one group, and membership can change to suit different projects.
Transparent Data Management While Working in Solid Edge

Embedding document check-in and check-out processes inside standard Solid Edge file commands ensures that only one engineer makes changes to a design at a time, preventing conflicting changes being made to the same part. The assembly pathfinder in Solid Edge provides continual and instant feedback on the status of files, their availability and who is working on them.

Rapid Searching and “Where Used” Reporting
Designers can use a powerful search tool to quickly locate design data by any defined criteria. Attributes, product structure and linked file data are indexed in an SQL server for fast access, so searches take seconds instead of minutes. In addition, powerful “full text” searches can be run to locate specific text within Solid Edge documents, including notes placed on drawings.

Fast “where used” reporting helps find all the product and subassembly models that contain a specific design. This rapid feedback provides quick, accurate understanding of the impact of proposed design modifications.

Revision Management

As designs develop, Solid Edge uses Insight to simplify control of design versions and revisions, helping teams collaborate more effectively by knowing exactly where the latest documents are and that they are using the correct revisions. When designers complete their work on parts, assemblies or drawings, Solid Edge automatically checks in the files and updates related files to reflect the changes.

The Revision Manager utility can be used to create new revisions of Solid Edge documents in a “Save As” type process as an efficient first step in the creation of new designs that are derived from existing designs.

Design Release Management
Solid Edge Insight greatly simplifies the release process by automating events that are typically accomplished manually. From pre-released to released, and throughout any change notices that occur afterwards, Insight manages the design process so that changes can be made, checked and approved as swiftly and accurately as possible.

The Life Cycle Assistant is a separate utility for moving complete packages of documents (assemblies, parts and drawings) through the release process without the need to run Solid Edge.

Task and Workflow Management
Insight users can take advantage of the workflow capabilities provided by Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and implement additional workflows to support company specific processes. These workflows can contain alerts, so that users receive automatic e-mail notification whenever changes are made.
CAD Product Structure Management and BOM Creation

Solid Edge Insight makes it simple to manage the complex relationships among design documents, even in multi-level assemblies with thousands of components. Insight automatically manages BOMs that define the physical product and drive many other business processes. Accurate BOM data can be extracted at any time and output in XML format for incorporation into ERP and other corporate systems.

Offline Mode with Synchronization on Reconnect

Solid Edge Insight supports working offline. Design work can progress when working remotely (e.g. from a customer site or at home), with changes automatically propagated to files in their network storage locations upon reconnecting to SharePoint.

Web Portal for Wider Access to Design Data

Solid Edge Insight leverages Microsoft’s .NET technology for a collaboration solution that is powerful yet simple, providing web portal based viewing of 2D and 3D designs with managed access to associated data. A web-enabled plug-in also enables Solid Edge viewing capabilities to be added to web pages, providing a unique solution for viewing parts, assemblies, drawings and product structure with a standard web browser.
