BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A CUSTOMER SENDS A REVISION VIA AN IGES FILE ?
The associativity is broken, as the process must now link to a new file. The internal identifiers NX uses to maintain links to faces will not match up. CAM operations will need to be edited to link to the correct faces. This manual remapping process within CAM operations is challenging, and prone to mistakes, as the user must remember which faces or edges were included in each geometry object.
Fortunately, the wave linking technology in NX contains a set of tools which allow users to remap the internal links in a single operation. Then downstream applications need only be updated. This toolset is included in a command called “Replacement Assistant” This workflow is efficient,as the remapping occurs only once. The tools provide automation that will automatically search for unchanged faces, and can make inferences about nearby geometry matches. This process reduces risk by clearly indicating which faces are mapped, and highlighting areas where feature revisions have resulted in new faces.
